I am teaching Activity Days (for girls age 8-11) tonight. We are focusing on preparing for the upcoming General Conference. I remember feeling so bored when I was a child and really not getting much out of it except that we get to sleep in and eat snacks during conference. Today of course as a wife and mother, I love every minute of it and try to absorb all of it. I feel like every word was meant for me and I feel refreshed spiritually and am inspired to be better.
I’ve tried some things over the years to help my own children appreciate conference more than I did and to my great pleasure, they seem to get a LOT out of it. For this conference, I’ve decided to make this printable page for the Activity Days girls. It’s something I normally do in my scripture journal, but in a much less formal way. I’m posting it on here since I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted online and hopefully this will help others too. Most of the top page is for brainstorming.
The section where you list scriptures is a place for you to look up scriptures that may relate to the items you’ve listed. In the “date,” you would write dates that you will take time to ponder the particular scriptures. I think that preparing for personal revelation is a process and often doesn’t happen all at once.
When you get to the “cloud,” you should have decided on ONE struggle that you will focus on for conference.
Happy General Conference. I can’t wait!

I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but I feel the need to post something today. It’s only been TWO YEARS! There’s so much that’s gone on I wouldn’t even know where to start. So, for today, I’ll just post today. We had a great time at grandma’s house for school today (Did I mention I’m homeschooling four kids this year???). The pictures tell the story. We love grandma’s house.
Wow…it’s so quiet! Baby is sleeping. Girls Club is in session (not at my house) and the rest are back in school. They have been counting down the days and are excited to be back with their friends and their fabulous teachers. I can’t believe how old they are getting. Makes me kinda sad.
It’s taking me a bit to figure out what I want to do first…not sure what to do with myself right now! In a good way.
My three year old is back to “Girls Club.” I blogged about it at our 4chicksplayschool blog here.
Someone got glasses! I think she looks super cute.
We camped with our old ward last week and almost everyone in my family. I LOVE camping so much.
I remember my mom telling me that my dad had given up opportunities at work because the trainings would have taken place during ward camp. I’m so glad he did. I have so many great memories of camping as a child and my kids are making their own set of almost identical memories. It’s so relaxing. I love that feeling of being disconnected with real life and just enjoying having no where to go (although the kids did go to their sports practices) and seeing the calendar cleared out.
My nieces are soooo helpful with my baby!
The older cousins brought lots of nail polish and the little girls loved having their nails painted.
Always lots of games with lots of cousins.
Getting ready for the ocean! Her aunty took her into the water the day before and she loved it. It w as her first time at the beach.
This is how my dad lights the grill.
We had to be out by eight in the morning on the last day. Instead of waking way too early and breaking down, we did most of the break down the night before…including our tents. Most of us just slept under the EZ corner. It was my best sleep the whole time!
Can’t wait for next year!
Today this amazing lady turns 92. This picture was taken recently. Isn’t she beautiful? Grandma is incredible in so many ways.
We all love grandma for her food. She cooks with so much love and butter. The more you eat, the happier she is.
We love her for her generous heart. She loves The Lord and is always reminding us to be Christlike.
We all feel so blessed that she has such vibrance and spunk! She still runs up and down the stairs like an athlete.
I hope that I can have half as much energy and as pure a heart as she does when I’m a grandma one day.
We love you so much grandma!!
